Gone Rural - Woven Grass Coasters & Box - Tangarine - Eswatini
This set of six handwoven coasters comes neatly stored in a matching basket, combining practical function with natural beauty. Each piece is meticulously crafted by women artisans in Eswatini, who use age-old weaving skills to transform local plant fibres into durable, contemporary designs.
Made from lutindzi grass and sisal, these coasters are not only strong and long-lasting but also sustainable. Lutindzi grass is a naturally regenerating wild grass, prized for its resilience, while sisal fibre is known for its strength and ability to hold vibrant dyes. Together, they create coasters that protect your surfaces while adding a natural, artisanal charm to your table.

About the Maker:
Handwoven by women artisans with Gone Rural, a pioneering social enterprise founded in 1992 by Jenny Thorne. Based in the mountains of Eswatini, Gone Rural provides sustainable employment for over 700 women, many of whom weave from their homes while caring for children, grandchildren, and vulnerable or orphaned children in their communities.
Gone Rural supports artisans with market access, design input, training, and fair wages, creating pathways out of poverty while preserving Eswatini’s cultural weaving heritage. Every coaster set tells a story of empowerment, sustainability, and artistry, bringing a meaningful touch to your home.
