Thurlby - Australian Made Aromatics

Tucked away in the ancient Southern forests of Western Australia, more than 30 years ago, Penny Jewell began growing herbs and making artisanal soaps over her wood-fired kitchen stove. What began as humble handmade gifts for friends and family has become a thriving international business. A pioneer in natural herbal products and environmentally sustainable approaches to manufacturing, Thurlby was founded on the simple philosophy of making quality botanically based products - without synthetics additives – products Penny herself would like to use. Using ethically sourced ingredients and artisan soap making methods, Thurlby handmade personal care products are gentle on skin and the environment.

Today, Thurlby continues to make garden-grown plant-based products using traditional botanical knowledge. Still a family-owned business (albeit different families since 2018), they are also the largest private employer in the Walpole WA district. Maintaining an active community involvement, both at home and abroad, Thurlby supports local families by providing secure & ethical working conditions, ensuring their handmade herbal products continue to be proudly Australian Made. By creating flexible employment, including seasonal work-from-home arrangements for local mothers and seniors, Thurlby helps to support people living in the beautiful and remote Walpole community.

Never losing sight of their commitment to ethical practices and environmental protection, Thurlby’s aromatic herbal skincare products are never tested on animals, and the majority of packaging is made from recycled cotton fibers – a clothing industry by-product. Support an entire community of local Australians when you shop Thurlby’s natural artisanal handmade soaps and perfumed herbal air fresheners.
